Helping bring family fun to Maritime Day 2017
Enjoy a fun-filled family day at Fremantle Port on Saturday 4 November for Maritime Day 2017 – your chance to discover all the best bits about the port, the maritime industry and maritime careers.
A full day’s action is planned throughout the western end of Victoria Quay, inside historic B Shed and on the water, including dress up competitions, face painting, arts and crafts, maritime exhibitions – plus a range of ships and vessels on display.
EVOL LNG, Kleenheat’s domestic LNG business, will be getting in on the fun, too, with a child-friendly LNG science show to help inspire the next generation of engineers or scientists.
Our resident scientist and “LNGenius” Mark Lindup will be onsite to demonstrate why LNG is one of the safest, most reliable and cleanest fuels for marine transport and power generation.
“Over the years of working with EVOL, I’ve learnt all about LNG’s properties and how to design safe storage and handling systems,” Mark said.
“It’s great to be able to show and educate the public of LNG in a fun and safe way and hopefully inspire kids to study STEM subjects too.”
Mark will also demonstrate LNG’s amazing cryogenic properties – it boils at minus 162 degrees Celsius!
With plenty to see and do at Maritime Day 2017, bring the family along to Victoria Quay on Saturday 4 November to celebrate everything wonderful about WA’s marine industry – old and new!
Fuelling the future of the marine industry
EVOL LNG is excited to join in the action at Maritime Day 2017, with the Fremantle Port Authority having played a pivotal role in helping realise LNG’s potential within the marine industry.
Business Manager Nick Rea said the team’s association with Fremantle Ports stems from a long-standing relationship with Kleenheat for the export of LPG from Kwinana, opening the door to the use of LNG as a clean and reliable fuel alternative for the industry.
“It’s clear the marine fuel market is still developing, but we see LNG as the fuel of the future. It burns much cleaner than the traditional oil-based fuels and emission limits introduced in North America and Europe have encouraged the take up of LNG as a marine fuel” Nick said.
“We’re thrilled to be on board for Maritime Day 2017, helping celebrate the history of Fremantle Ports while also entertaining and educating families on the wonders of LNG.”
Fremantle was the first port in Australia to issue an LNG bunkering licence, paving the way for EVOL LNG to conduct the first LNG bunkering at Fremantle Port in February this year, while also supporting Woodside’s platform supply vessel in Dampier for past eight months
