BNSF’s First LNG Fueled Locomotives Placed Into Revenue Service

The first four units have completed testing and are now preparing to enter regular service evaluation. After two months of texting at a testing facility in Pueblo, Colorado, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway’s (BNSF) first four LNG fueled locomotives are being readied for entry into revenue service. Railway Age reported September 10 that BNSF has received a letter of concurrence for main line testing from the Federal Railroad Administration.
